Litter B - 2023
CardiStar’s B litter was born on August 1, 2023.
The litter consisted of 8 lovely puppies, all brindle.
There were 7 females and 1 male.

Cassie & Teddy
We took a trip to Stockholm, where we met the sweet Teddy.
Cassie and Teddy went on a couple of romantic dates, and the result was eight wonderful puppies.
This was Cassie’s very first litter, and she did an excellent job – a fantastic, loving, and very caring mother.
We ourselves fell in love with a little female from the litter. Her name is Tootsie and she has developed exactly as we had hoped. Tootsie is now the mother of our E litter in 2025.

Birth process
On day 61, Cassie began the initial phase of labor. She eagerly dug in the whelping box and had a great need to be very close to me. Towards evening, things really started to get worse. She was breathing heavily, couldn't find peace, and I could see the first small contractions. Shortly after, her water broke.
Cassie pushed a few times and unfortunately gave birth to a stillborn puppy. It was clear that the puppy was underdeveloped and had been dead for several days.
We waited for the next puppy, but unfortunately the contractions stopped completely. After a conversation with the vet, we agreed that it was best to come in for a check-up.
During the examination, the vet scanned the remaining puppies, and fortunately they all had a nice and stable heartbeat. To try to get the labor started again, we decided to give Cassie a vasostimulating injection.
After the injection, Cassie was very nauseous and seemed both uncomfortable and restless. Unfortunately, there were still no contractions, and after about two hours the vet decided that it would be safest to perform a cesarean section.
Cassie was put under anesthesia, and we were again allowed to be present during the entire operation. One by one, we received the puppies as the vet delivered them. We gently rubbed them with warm towels and helped them get started.
As soon as the surgery was complete, all the puppies were put to Cassie so they could get the vital colostrum. All the puppies were quick to nurse, and when Cassie woke up, she was immediately very proud and caring of her little ones.
The puppies weighed between 245 and 290 grams at birth.
